About Jackson Law Financial Management
Jackson Law Financial Management Ltd, are a family owned business which was founded in 2009. Although a new company in the independent financial advice arena, it has knowledge, experience and values, which have been honed through 21 years of advising their clients across the UK.
My career started in Plymouth at the age of 25, after leaving my home town of Waltham Abbey and serving 9 years in the Royal Marines. My first position was with Allied Dunbar as a tied adviser. Initially a challenging entry into the industry, working on a self employed basis, whilst gaining the first of my many professional qualifications and providing for a young family. Although the first four years were difficult, I gained a wealth of experience in financial management, which I have used throughout my career, when advising my clients and managing my own company.
On leaving Allied Dunbar, I joined the Halifax Building Society as an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). This was where I first experienced the professionalism and dedication of the advisers that operate within this sector of financial services. Through this role I proved my ability and further increased my knowledge, which culminated in Halifax accepting my request to be transferred to the East Midlands to be nearer family and friends. Unfortunately after just two successful years in the East Midlands, the Halifax decided to close their IFA division.
This however proved to be a very positive outcome, as I made a conscious decision to join a local practice, with the intention of increasing my local connections, which I felt I was lacking due to my relatively recent arrival in the region. This decision proved very positive, as I established strong professional connections with Accountants and Solicitors, both locally and nationally. From these relationships I further developed my professionalism, knowledge and skills, which enabled me to gradually move into my chosen specialism of wealth management.
It was through one of these connections, that I was invited to join Tenon Financial Services, which is an arm of RSM Tenon, who are Chartered Accountants. My role was as a senior IFA providing wealth management for their clients.
After providing advice to the clients of Tenon and those who had loyally stayed with me through my own progression from Allied Dunbar in Plymouth to Tenon in Nottingham, I felt that the time was right to establish my own practice, where I could focus on wealth management, without distractions or other obligations which are associated with larger organisations.
To that end, after seeking advice from a long standing supporter of mine, Jason Sharp of Smith Emmerson Chartered Accountants. I decided to launch Jackson Law Financial Management Ltd. Which further had its success assured, by having many of the clients who I was currently and had previously advised decide to join me.
